Message from the Vice Chair of Education
Welcome to the Education Division of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Medical College. Our faculty are dynamic and dedicated providing outstanding education and training in Emergency Medicine to all of the learners in our Department ranging from undergraduate, graduate, and physician assistant education programs.
Our faculty are engaged in several amazing undergraduate courses such as Austere Medicine and Emergency Ultrasound. The Emergency Medicine residency is across both the Columbia and Cornell campuses with an exemplary clinical experience at the New York Presbyterian Hospital system. We have 48 emergency medicine residents in our 4-year training program and are so proud of the well-rounded experience which includes mentorship from our faculty who are national experts in subspecialties such as ultrasound and toxicology.
Our department has a growing number of fellowships which include emergency ultrasound, pediatric emergency ultrasound, pediatric emergency medicine, and global emergency medicine. Our newly established Lorna Breen Administration Fellowship honors its namesake who tirelessly worked to maintain the highest standards of care for the patients who we treat in the ED.
